A study conducted by Florida-based personal injury attorneys claims Scottsdale has the lowest nighttime fatality rate when it comes to fatal car accidents.

Anidjar and Levine, the firm, stated that it analyzed data from the National Highway Transportation and Safety Board's Fatality Analysis Reporting System. They focused on all fatal accidents occurring between 6 p.m. and 5:59 a.m. from 2017 to 2021 and only included cities with more than 100 fatal accidents in that timeframe.

Scottsdale had the lowest ranking, with 46 out of the 102 fatal accidents occurring at night, resulting in a nighttime fatality rate of 45.1%. Mesa ranked tenth, with 119 nighttime fatal accidents out of 215 total, yielding a rate of 55.35%.

According to the study, San Bernardino had the highest incidence of fatal accidents in the evening. Of 177 fatal accidents, 132 occurred at night, accounting for just shy of three-quarters of all accidents.
