Strong-Huttig meeting

The Strong-Huttig School Board will hold a special called meeting Tuesday March 26, 2024 at 6 pm.

Ribbon cutting at UAMS health

The El Dorado-Union County Chamber of Commerce & UAMS Health invite you to a Ribbon Cutting on Wednesday, March 27 at 1pm. The new medical Center will be at 620 W Grove Suite #202.

The Family Medical Center opening marks the latest step in UAMS' plan to reestablish a regional campus in El Dorado. The center is a comprehensive primary care facility. The clinic's team of providers has joined UAMS Health and will see existing patients as well as new ones.

Parking is available on-site.

NAACP to hold Lunch and Learn

The NAACP Lunch and Learn will be held Next Tuesday at the Chamber of Commerce from 11:30-1:00pm on Tuesday, April 26th with speaker Vernita Morgan.

Over the past 30 years Vernita Morgan has delivered virtual/in-person genealogical presentations to genealogy organizations, libraries, and/or family reunions in Chicago, Illinois; Houston and Dallas, Texas; Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Cincinnati, Ohio; Natchitoches, Ruston, Grambling, and Shreveport, Louisiana; Flagstaff, Arizona; Los Angeles, California; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Tulsa, Oklahoma; Washington, D.C.; and El Dorado, Arkansas. In 2021 Vernita received the Juneteenth Genealogy Award from the Arkansas Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission. She is a past registrar of the William C. Claiborne Chapter of the United States Daughters of 1812 lineage society having joined under her 3rd great-grandfather, Allen Demery. Vernita currently serves on the Arkansas State Historic Preservation Review Board and the Southwest Arkansas Regional Archives Foundation Board. She is a Professor of Mathematics at South Arkansas Community College and the 2020 Recipient of the NAACP Image Award for Education in Union County, Arkansas. Vernita is the daughter of Paul, Sr. & Oneda Rogers Morgan of Natchitoches, Louisiana.
