Not a superhero: This Bruce Wayne guy, sex offender in 3 states, being held without bail

BUSHNELL, Fla. (TND) — It only took a "pedestrian violation," according to his latest arrest report.

A sheriff's deputy in Florida wrote about finding “Bruce Wayne Guy, Jr., in the middle of the roadway under the Interstate 75 overpass.”

That's when she found out “he was a registered sex offender [and] he failed to check in with Hillsborough County” authorities, 19 days earlier.

“He left Hillsborough County FL about a week ago and has been traveling county to county north, and is heading to Texas,” according to Guy’s arrest report, and that would be at least the fourth state he calls home — if he ever makes it.

According to Florida Department of Law Enforcement records, Guy was convicted of rape in Talladega, Ala., in 1989.

He was convicted of indecent exposure in Greenville, S.C., in 2005.

And he was convicted of failing to register as a sex offender in Florida twice: in Duval County in 2017 and in Pasco County in 2021. He served 16 months in state prison the first time, and 14 months for the second.

This arrest report from Feb. 29 lists his failings from the sexual offender registration form he signed:

• If he leaves home without a new residence, "I must report in person to the sheriff's office in the county where I am located within 48 hours. Failure to report this information within 48 hours is a third-degree felony."

• "If I intend on establishing a" home in another state, "I must report in person to the sheriff's office in the county of my current residence within 48 hours before the date that I intend to leave."

• If he establishes a temporary home, "I must report in person to the sheriff's office in the county in which I am located within 48 hours [and] every 30 days. ... Failure to report is a third-degree felony."

• “Knowingly providing false registration information by act or omission is a third-degree felony.”

And there’s more.

“During the search of his property, Bruce Wayne Guy, Jr., spontaneously uttered he has the paperwork for his medical marijuana card/the marijuana in his property.

“Bruce Wayne Guy, Jr., stated there were vapes in his property,” which a trainee deputy picked up, under the deputy’s supervision.

“A white vape was located in the blue drawstring bag containing an oil which from my training and experience looked to be THC oil, the contents were field tested for THC oil which returned presumptive positive.”

Authorities in Sumter County, where this was taking place, said Bruce Wayne Guy, Jr., didn’t have a medical marijuana card, so he was also charged with possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.

Guy, 56, had been in and out of prison for years.

This time, he’s being held without bond, and is due to be arraigned in a month.
