An upcoming prayer walk will lead participants through portions of Carlisle on Good Friday.
Hosted by several Carlisle churches, the annual Ecumenical Stations of the Cross event will return for its 17th year, allowing area residents to reflect on the final day of Jesus' life as depicted in the Bible.
Stations commemorate stages of Jesus' crucifixion, from sentencing to burial. Each area will feature a local minister or community leader sharing a passage from the Bible and a time of reflection for attendees to pray.
Participants can also sing "Were You There When They Crucified My Lord" while walking between stations.
The event will begin at noon at New Life Community Church, 64 E. North St., and will conclude at 2 p.m. at Saint Patrick Church, 152 E. Pomfret St., following the tentative schedule below:
Prayer booklets and guides for children will be provided to walkers and participants are encouraged to dress for weather and walking.
Attendees may visit as many or few stations as they choose and may bring crosses to carry.
The stations will be conducted in New Life Community Church in the event of inclement weather.
