Dallas-area baseball rankings (3/27): Flower Mound, Argyle out front early in 6A and 5A

Now more than a month into the Texas high school baseball season, championship contenders have started to identify themselves.

Flower Mound, the reigning Class 6A champion, has lived up to its preseason hype. With just three games dropped this season, Flower Mound is the state’s top-ranked team and the nation’s 14th-best team, according to Max Preps. Josh Glaser struck out 10 batters in Flower Mound’s 3-0 win over Plano West on Tuesday. The senior Texas State commit is just one talent on that veteran roster.

Argyle and Celina, contenders in Class 5A and 4A respectively, have also performed as expected. Though Argyle, the state’s top-ranked 5A team, fell 0–2 to Colleyville Heritage on Tuesday. Celina boasts marquee wins over Rockwall, Rockwall-Heath and Prosper — all Class 6A heavyweights.

Several other teams, like Jesuit, made appearances in this week’s poll despite not being listed in the preseason Dallas-area rankings. Two TAPPS programs, which rank among the state’s best teams, also debuted.
