A man wanted for murder was arrested today at Manchester Airport when he arrived on a flight from South America.

GMP had pushed for the extradition of John Belfield from Suriname, a small country on the north eastern coast of South America, which borders, Guyana and Brazil. He was wanted in connection with a fatal attack on Thomas Campbell.

Mr Campbell, 38-year-old was robbed and 'tortured to death' in his own home in Mossley, Tameside, after being ambushed by three men. Three people, including Thomas's ex-wife Coleen Campbell, were jailed last year for their roles in Thomas's death.
