Man charged with child sexual assault

TREMPEALEAU COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU) - Charges were filed today against an Arcadia man accused of sexually assaulting a nine-year-old girl.

According to a criminal complaint, on March 15, 45-year-old Gavdencio Ortiz of Arcadia, Wis., was charged with first-degree child sexual assault-sexual contact or sexual intercourse with a person under age 13 and child enticement-sexual contact.

Ortiz is being held on a $35,000 cash bond.

He is scheduled to appear in court on March 19.

On March 2, the victim was at Memorial Park in Arcadia with family members and Ortiz. He got the victim alone outside the locked bathrooms and inappropriately touched her.

The victim later reported the incident to her teacher who then contacted authorities.

In an interview, Ortiz told an officer that he was “a little drunk” and admitted to grabbing the victim inappropriately.
