Single-vehicle crash in northern Minnesota leaves one dead

Mar. 24—ST. LOUIS COUNTY — One person is dead after a one-vehicle crash in Portage Township, north of Orr.

At approximately 1:54 p.m. Friday, first responders and law enforcement were dispatched to a report of a single-vehicle accident on Orr Buyck Road near Myrtle Lake, according to a news release from the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office. The sheriff's office said that upon arrival of emergency services, the driver of the vehicle, who was the lone occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene and that speed appears to be a contributing factor to the crash.

According to a second release from the sheriff's office issued on Saturday night, the deceased driver was Erikur John Weber Arnason, 30, of Hibbing.

The crash remains under investigation by the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office and the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office.
