A suspect was arrested after a woman reported being racially abused on a bus. Police were probing an incident in Leamington Spa.

Warwickshire Police said the victim was racially abused on the No.1 bus. It happened on the service outside Tesco, on the Parade, at about 11pm on Wednesday, February 28.

A 73-year-old man, from Warwick, was arrested on suspicion of committing a racially aggravated public order offence. He was later bailed.

A statement from Warwickshire Police said: "Officers are investigating a report that a woman was racially abused by a man on the number 1 bus in Leamington. The man got on the bus outside Tesco on the Parade, at around 11pm, on Wednesday, February 28.

"Police are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the altercation. A 73-year-old man from Warwick has been arrested on suspicion of committing a racially aggravated public order offence. He has since been bailed until April while enquiries continue."
