Gary Graff is a Detroit-based music journalist and author.

It’s a quiet weekend in the cineplexes as “Kung Fu Panda 4” and “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” continue to dominate.

But there’s plenty of fresh fare on the small screen, with the following movies and series all premiering on Friday, March 29 …

• “STEVE (Martin) a documentary in 2 pieces” (Apple TV+): Morgan Neville takes two perspectives in this two-episode survey of Martin’s eventful life and career, featuring lots of vintage footage and interviews with celebrity friends and colleagues.

• “Marlowe” (Prime Video): Liam Neeson plays crime author Raymond Chandler’s infamous Philip Marlowe, hired in this film to find the ex-lover of a glamorous heiress played by Diane Kruger.

• “A Gentleman in Moscow” (Paramount+): Ewan McGregor stars in the new series adapted from the Amor Towles novel about a count exiled to an attic room in the Hotel Metropol following the Russian Revolution — and threatened with death if he ever tries to leave.

• “Renegade Nell” (Disney+): Louisa Harland plays a woman who, after being framed for a murder in 18th-century England, unwittingly becomes one of the country’s most notorious outlaws.

• “The Beautiful Game” (Netflix): Bill Nighy stars in this film drama about the Homeless World Cup, an annual soccer tournament for, as the title indicates, homeless men.

• “Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock” (Apple TV+): The reboot of Jim Henson’s 80s children’s series begins a second season of new adventures for the musically minded Fraggles crew.
