One injured in shooting involving Albuquerque Police officers
Albuquerque police say their officers were involved in a shooting in northeast Albuquerque.
According to police, the Multi-Agency Task Force is on the scene at Betts Street and Mesa Arriba Avenue NE. That's near Morris Street between Comanche and Candelaria roads.
Police say they received a tip about a stolen car in northeast Albuquerque. Officers later found the car near Mesa Arriba and Betts Drive.
Police say when they caught up with the car, one person was taken into custody and another person ran. The person who ran was found in a shed in the neighborhood. During the encounter, Chief Harold Medina says an officer fired at least one shot at the suspect. Medina said it appeared the suspect was about to shoot at officers.
Chief Medina says it was later discovered the suspect had phone in their hand.
Albuquerque police say no officers were injured and the injured suspect who was shot is being treated at the hospital.
