Man expected to survive Dorchester shooting, police say

A man was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries after a shooting in Dorchester on Sunday night but is expected to survive, officials said.

Boston police responded at 9:07 p.m. to a report of a person shot near the intersection of Ashmont Street and Dorchester Avenue, according to Officer Michael Torigian, a Boston police spokesperson.

Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound who was then taken to a local hospital, Torigian said.

The victim, whose identity was not released, is expected to survive, according to Sergeant Detective John Boyle, the department’s chief spokesperson.

The shooting is under investigation and no arrests have been made. No further information was immediately available.
