Waterloo officer on leave, local man dead following officer-involved shooting incident

WATERLOO, Iowa — One man is dead and a Waterloo police officer is on leave after a shooting Monday afternoon.

Since it's an officer-involved shooting, DCI is investigating the case.

Police said it started with a shots fired call in the 2700 block of Falls Ave. at about 2:45 p.m.

The address listed by the police matches Kuennen's Automotive Clinic.

The officer eventually shot that man subject in the 1200 block of Hartman Ave. — which is behind Kuennen's to the south.

Investigators aren't naming the victim or the officer.

No other details have been released at this time.
