BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Troopers say two motorcyclists were involved in a crash and both were charged with DUI arrests on Thursday night.

Around 10:40 p.m., Florida Highway Patrol responded to a traffic crash in the area of Thomas Drive and Sterling Cove Blvd involving two motorcycles.

Officials say both bikes were traveling westbound on Thomas Drive when a car pulled into their path and left the scene.

The first driver reportedly tried to avoid the car and ran into the second driver by swerving into his path.

FHP says the two both separated from their motorcycles and sustained non-life-threatening injuries as a result.

At some point, the first driver, Kade Hawkins, refused EMS on the scene and was treated and released.

The second driver, Robert Sullivan was taken to a local hospital for his injuries.

Troopers say enough evidence was gathered for a DUI investigation on Hawkins, who was quickly taken into custody after medical treatment.

After being taken to Ascension Sacred Heart Bay Medical, Sullivan allegedly refused any sobriety test from the responding trooper and eventually refused further medical treatment from the hospital.

He was subsequently arrested for DUI refusal. Both were taken to Bay County Jail.
