Lanes reopen on I-95 North near Branch Avenue exit

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — All travel lanes on the northbound side of Interstate 95 North in Providence have reopened after a crash was cleared.

The closure occurred near Exit 39B.

Rhode Island State Police said the crash occurred when a wrong way driver who was driving southbound in the northbound lanes hit two other vehicles.

State police added that it appeared the wrong way driver was under the influence and was transported to Rhode Island Hospital.

Passengers in the other two cars had minor to moderate injuries.

Rhode Island Department of Transportation traffic cameras showed a car on the median.
