Drug sniffing dog assisted in Currituck meth bust

MOYOCK, N.C. (WAVY) – A man in Moyock was arrested in connection with a “trafficking amount” of methamphetamine.

According to officials, the Currituck County Narcotics Unit stopped a vehicle in the early morning of March 13 as a part of an ongoing narcotics investigation.

Detectives, along with Omar the drug sniffing canine, were able to seize a trafficking amount of meth and packaging material used for the distribution of meth during their search.

James Woodrow Simmons, 38, was arrested and charged with two counts of trafficking methamphetamine, according to detectives.

Simmons is currently being held in the Currituck County Detention Center on a $50,000 secured bond.
