HAMILTON — A fire early Tuesday evening in a two-story duplex chased families from both residences.

No injuries were reported after Hamilton Twp. firefighters and police responded to a blaze that started at about 6 p.m. in the 1200 block of Hamilton Ave. near Cleveland Ave.

The owner/landlord for one building said she could not estimate how much damage occurred. “I’m just grateful no one was hurt,” she said.

Police blocked off traffic near Hamilton Ave. and South Olden Ave. The fire appeared to have started on the second floor.

“Maybe even the attic,” the brother of one landlord guessed. “We won’t know much until an inspection of the buildings.”
