DLA Piper adds to private equity team

Thursday, March 28, 2024
Opalesque Industry Update - DLA Piper has hired Andrew Walker as an Austin-based partner in the firm's Private Equity Practice.

Walker's practice focuses on representing private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies in complex business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, the creation of new business platforms, and serving as outside general counsel.

His notable experience includes: representing a private equity sponsor and its portfolio company in a 50/50 recapitalization with another private equity sponsor; representing a private equity sponsor in its acquisition of a drug diversion monitoring company; and representing a private equity sponsor in its acquisition of a music company powered by innovative technology that was created as an alternative to the traditional music business model.

"We are actively expanding our private equity capabilities, and we believe Andrew will have an immediate impact delivering excellent client service to our clients," said Joey Silver, global co-chair and US chair of the Private Equity Practice.

"Andrew has an impressive record providing innovative counsel in complex transactions, and his presence will be valuable in expanding our private equity capabilities in Austin and beyond," said Joseph Fore, office managing partner of DLA Piper's Austin office.
