Man, 31, charged in online child sex sting

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A 31-year-old Bakersfield man was arrested earlier this month after attempting to meet someone he believed was 15 for a sex act, according to a court filing.

Mike Hernandez Jr. is facing three counts related to contacting a minor for a sex act and has a competency hearing set for next month, according to Superior Court records. He’s free on $10,000 bail.

Hernandez contacted a decoy account used by undercover detectives on a social media application, according to a probable cause declaration. After acknowledging he was communicating with a 15-year-old, Hernandez arranged a meeting to engage in a sex act, according to the declaration.

Detectives arrested him March 5 in northwest Bakersfield, according to the declaration. Charges were filed two days later.
