A McDonald’s worker shared on Reddit about their arrest during their shift. The situation unfolded after they disregarded a police directive to return home due to a probation violation. The individual who secured the job while still under probation following a prison sentence was uncertain if their employment status was known to their supervisor.

The worker reportedly evaded the police for five years and was surprised when they called about their whereabouts. However, officers did not disclose any information and specifically requested to speak with the employee. Shortly after the call, the unidentified employee told his manager about their probationary status and an inquiry from the police. Contrary to the employee’s expectations, the manager advised them to continue working and assured them not to disclose their shift status to the authorities. This decision extended to instructing another employee who had acknowledged the worker’s presence to the caller, emphasizing that such information should not have been shared.

The situation intensified when the employee received a call from their mother, alerting them that police had arrived at their residence, a brief distance from the McDonald’s. The police were there due to the employee’s failure of three drug tests, with the employee intending to address this at an upcoming probation meeting. Eventually, police arrived at the McDonald’s, comprised of both uniformed and plainclothes officers, and apprehended the employee, leading them out and effectively terminating their employment.

The worker felt betrayed by their manager, who had urged them to ignore the police’s request and continue working, without informing them of the potential job loss consequent to an on-site arrest. This lack of communication left the employee unprepared for the fallout from their arrest during work hours. “Of all days there was 4 managers in the lobby from like district manager and whatever. So the police came in 4 of them 3 not uniformed and one with khakis and sheriff vest make there way to back booth and take me out the back door . I no longer have a job now 🤦🏻‍♀️. I just thought it was dirty af for the manager to tell me just go back to work!” they wrote in the post.

Other Redditors commented on the post and offered their advice about the situation. One user wrote, “You would have gotten fired anyway. Even if you did leg it. And the manager told you to go back to work because they had full intentions of letting them arrest you for whatever you did and that was their way to make you stay calm and make sure you’re there when the police got there. “I won’t tell them you’re here” is the biggest lie anyone could say. They’re not going to risk their job for a probie.”
