JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - Police arrested a man who was accused of attacking his girlfriend at a hotel and threatening to kill her.

Second District Judge Barbara Halsey found probable cause on Wednesday, March 27 to charge 21-year-old Monterio Demetrius Wiley, of Hughes, with aggravated assault on a family or household member, false imprisonment, and first-degree terroristic threatening.

On Monday, March 25, Jonesboro police officers were dispatched to the Scottish Inns on the 3000 block of Mead Drive about a domestic disturbance.

According to an affidavit, officers were told by the victim that her boyfriend, Wiley, had a “physical altercation.”

“The victim told officers that while at the hotel, Wiley had argued with her about texting another male before taking her phone from her,” police said.

During the argument, the victim said Wiley grabbed her by the throat in a “choke hold”, strangling her.

The affidavit went on to say the victim told police they fell off the bed and onto the floor when Wiley hit his head, releasing the victim

The victim attempted to flee the room, but Wiley grabbed her by the foot, pulling her down and strangling her again.

“During this assault, Wiley told the victim that he would kill her before continuing to strangle her to the point the victim felt that she was losing consciousness,” police said.

The victim said she was soon released by Riley and was able to get out of the hotel room to get help.

On March 27, Judge Halsey gave Wiley a $25,000 bond. His next court date is scheduled for Friday, May 24.
