(Gray News) - In a video on X, sitting in a vehicle, OJ Simpson pushed back against alleged rumors he’s in hospice care, adding that he’s hosting friends in Las Vegas for the Super Bowl being hosted in that city.

“Hey X world, hospice? Hospice? You talking about hospice?” he says in the video with disdain. It is not clear what hospice rumor he was referring to.

Media, including WPLG and TMZ, have reported that he is undergoing chemotherapy treatment for prostate cancer. He neither confirmed nor denied those reports in the video.

However, in an old social media post from May 2023, he talks about a cancer diagnosis and treatment, saying he “beat it.” He doesn’t say what kind.

The 76-year-old retired NFL star and former actor served nine years in prison in a Las Vegas armed robbery case. He was released in 2017 and got off parole in December 2021.

Simpson is also notorious for standing trial in a nationally watched criminal case, for the 1994 death of his wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman.

Though he was acquitted in the criminal trial, he was ordered in a civil case to pay $33.5 million to the victims’ families.
