Joe Willock received a post-match gift from his former Arsenal team-mate Bukayo Saka on his return to north London on Saturday.

Newcastle were battered 4-1 by the Gunners, but Willock's display was the silver lining for the Magpies, with the forward netting a late consolation at the Emirates.

Willock came off the bench in the 73rd minute against his old team and quickly made his mark, scoring a goal just 10 minutes later. This was his first game for Newcastle since November, and his performance could bring some much-needed competition to the midfield.

After the match, Willock took some time to catch up with Saka and his other former team-mates in the tunnel and was even gifted Saka's match-worn shirt.

"I'm grateful for my reception that I got from the Arsenal fans," said Willock at full-time. "They gave me a good reception. Arsenal gave me a lot during my career.

"I was there since I was four and a half so they gave me a lot and I'm thankful for them but today playing for Newcastle United and losing was a bit disappointing."

Some Arsenal fans clapped for Willock's late goal, as it didn't change the outcome of the match. Willock had spent nearly 17 years with Arsenal before deciding to move to Newcastle for more playing time.

On the game, Willock told TNT Sports: "We knew what we were getting into when we came here, they [Arsenal] are a really top side, they play good football. In the first half, I thought we could've done better but I thought second half we reacted and we have to take the second half to the next game."
