RALEIGH, N.C. --- Graduate student Wesley John ran the third-fastest 3,000-meter steeplechase in program history to lead the Georgia men’s track and field team on the opening day of the Raleigh Relays.

John posted a time of 8:54.03 to shave over three seconds off his previous personal best. The Watkinsville, Ga., native built on his previous success at NC State’s Paul Derr Track & Field Facility, where he clocked the No. 5 time in Georgia history (8:57.41) in the 2023 iteration of the Raleigh Relays.
