Chase’s $0 annual fee Ink Business Cash® Credit Card is getting enhancements that further solidify it as an ideal choice for small business owners.

Among the changes are a new tiered welcome offer, providing cardholders more time to hit the necessary spending threshold to earn bonus cash back. Those who have a business checking account with Chase can also earn a one-time 10% cash bonus after their first year of card ownership, and new business owners can expand their access to capital through automatic credit limit increases.

Earn $350 when you spend $3,000 on purchases in the first three months and an additional $400 when you spend $6,000 on purchases in the first six months after account opening.
Credit Score ranges are based on FICO® credit scoring. This is just one scoring method and a credit card issuer may use another method when considering your application. These are provided as guidelines only and approval is not guaranteed.

What’s New With the Ink Business Cash Card?

A Two-Tier Welcome Bonus Offer

One aspect of Chase’s Ink business credit cards is that they come with relatively high spending thresholds to earn a welcome bonus. A new change on the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card makes earning a welcome bonus more achievable.

Previously, the Ink Business Cash offered customers $750 bonus cash back after spending $6,000 on purchases in the first three months after account opening. The issuer has now broken this welcome bonus into two tiers: New cardholders can earn $350 cash back after spending $3,000 on purchases in the first three months of opening an account. Plus, earn an additional $400 cash back after spending $6,000 in the first six months.

Alongside the card’s lack of an annual fee, this tiered welcome bonus makes it an even stronger choice for business owners with lower monthly expenses. It’s not worth making unnecessary purchases in a short period of time to earn a welcome bonus, so this new offer doubles your time to hit the $6,000 threshold with your normal business spending.

A Cash-Back Anniversary Bonus

Furthering the cash-back earning potential of this card, Chase is introducing a new feature called the 10% business relationship bonus.

If you have the Ink Business Cash card plus a Chase Business Checking account, on your first card anniversary you’ll earn a one-time 10% bonus on all eligible cash back earned in your first year. For example, if you earn $2,500 in cash back, you’ll receive a $250 bonus.

This bonus could be sizable for your business as the Ink Business Cash already rewards spending in common categories. Cardholders earn 5% cash back on the first $25,000 spent in combined purchases at office supply stores and on internet, cable and phone services each account anniversary year and 2% cash back on the first $25,000 spent in combined purchases at gas stations and restaurants each account anniversary year. Earn 1% cash back on all other purchases.

If your spending primarily falls outside the card’s bonus rewards categories, this bonus will give you an extra boost on spending that typically only earns 1% cash back.

Automatic Credit Limit Increases

For new business owners, accessing capital to grow your business can be imperative. Rounding out improvements to the Ink Business Cash, Chase will now automatically assess your account for a credit limit increase every six months or sooner.

The chance to receive a higher credit limit also pairs nicely with the card’s current introductory APR offer. The Ink Business Cash offers a 0% introductory APR on purchases for 12 months, then a standard APR of 18.49% - 24.49% variable applies for purchases and balance transfers. A balance transfer fee of either $5 or 5% of the amount of each transfer, whichever is greater, applies.

If you’re getting your business off the ground, a high credit limit with a 0% introductory APR can help you finance big-ticket items. Just remember to pay down your balance in full by the end of the introductory APR period so you don’t end up with interest charges that could put your business into unhelpful debt.

Other Ink Business Cash Card Benefits

If these enhancements have you ready to submit an application, also consider other features that might benefit your business.

First and foremost, the card earns cash back in the form of Chase Ultimate Rewards® points. If your interest is in solely earning cash back, these points can be applied to your monthly statement at a rate of 1 cent per point.

However, these points open up a world of possibility if you also have the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card or one of Chase’s consumer travel cards, the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or Chase Sapphire Reserve®. If you hold any of these cards, you can pool the points earned with your Ink Business Cash to redeem them for higher value (1.25 to 1.5 cents per point when redeemed through Chase Travel℠) toward travel or transfer them to a Chase airline or hotel partner.

Outside of earning Ultimate Rewards points, the Ink Business Cash offers employee cards at no additional cost. You’ll also receive travel and purchase protections, such as a primary auto rental collision damage waiver when renting for business purposes, purchase protection and extended warranty protection. In a perfect world, you’ll never have to utilize these protections, but they could end up saving you thousands of dollars if issues arise with pricey purchases or when traveling for business.
