On Wednesday, Amazon MGM Studios confirmed that Lively, Kendrick, Henry Golding, Andrew Rannells, Bashir Salahuddin, Joshua Satine, Ian Ho and Kelly McCormack will reprise their roles in the followup. Paul Feig is back to direct as well. The first film was based on the 2017 novel by Darcy Bell, and the sequel's screenplay is by Jessica Sharzer. According to a synopsis, A Simple Favor 2 sees the "return of Stephanie Smothers (Kendrick) and Emily Nelson (Lively) as they head to the beautiful island of Capri, Italy, for Emily’s extravagant wedding to a rich Italian businessman."
