BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man was arrested after allegedly causing bodily harm to two V.A. Medical Center police officers last month, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Steven Iversen, 26, was charged by criminal complaint with resisting arrest causing bodily injury to a federal police officer.

Officials said on Feb. 7, the two officers suspected the smell of marijuana coming from Iversen’s parked vehicle inside the V.A parking garage. When they approached him sitting in the front seat, he allegedly refused to listen to them and instead rolled up his window and locked the door.

The officers threatened to break the window and eventually, Iversen complied with their commands, and police were able to get the vehicle’s door open, officials said.

However, after officers opened the door, Iversen allegedly resisted to being removed from the vehicle and then allegedly began kicking one of the officers in the right wrist and left knee before being taken into custody, according to officials.

Officials said one officer suffered right wrist and left knee sprains, while the other suffered a chipped tooth.

Iversen faces a maximum of eight years in prison.
