Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were reportedly left off Elton John's exclusive list for his Oscars party.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were said to have been snubbed by the iconic Rocket Man singer for his infamous annual bash last year. It remains to be seen whether the couple received an invite to this year's event, which raises funds for charity and is attended by some of the biggest names in the business.

This year, the likes of Smokey Robinson, Ellie Goulding, Jane Seymour, Jacob Lusk from Gabriels, Lucien Laviscount, Donatella Versace, Liz and Damian Hurley and Neil Patrick Harris were all invited. However, it's said Harry and Meghan's lack of invite last year was down to one thing - they are "nobodies in Hollywood".

That's the claim of royal author Tom Bower, who made the stark remark GB News. "They weren't even invited to Elton John's party at the Oscars. They really are nobodies in Hollywood!" he said.

Harry opened up on a disagreement he had with his mum's close friend in his controversial memoir, Spare. He explained the issue arose with Elton and his husband David Furnish at the singer's French home after Harry discovered Elton's memoir Me was going to be serialised in Daily Mail.

Harry did however claim that he backed down after Elton said he did so to try to get people to read his book. Harry said: "I loved him. I'll always love him. And I also didn't want to spoil the holiday."

This year's lavish party by Elton showcased a range of designer fashion items including a Louis Vuitton "garden in hell" bag of which only 10 were made in total. There were also two Gucci bomber jackets, five Versace shirts, two Versace robes and some slippers with E and J emblazoned on.

Inside the party, there was a pinball machine in dedication to the Pinball Wizard star and an amazing ice sculpture while food consisted of a no-expense banquet featuring braised short rib, sea bass and raspberry chocolate cloud. Harry and Meghan weren't seen at any Oscars event this year, but Meghan was a keynote speaker at SXSW. Netflix's CEO also broke his silence over the weekend on whether or not the couple will remain tied with the streaming giants.

They signed an exclusive £80million contract with Netflix after stepping down from the Royal Family as they worked on becoming financially independent. However, with the deal initially being signed on a five-year contract, their link-up is potentially set to end next year. With fans questioning whether this will be the case, Netflix co-chief Ted Sarandos insists he wants the connection to continue: "The documentary we did on them is still one of our most-watched documentaries of all time on Netflix and huge, particularly in the UK, where people just devour everything about them," he told Forbes. He added: "They’re controversial, but that's usually a good thing."
