These seven girls basketball players nominated for The Gardner News Player of the Year
After a season of ups and downs, Gardner-area girls basketball teams are done on the court for this school year. Many teams had big seasons that featured even bigger stars.
These seven girls hoopers have been nominated for The Gardner News Girls Basketball Player of the Year due to their prowess, leadership and abilities on the court. Vote below in the poll for who you think deserves this title. Fan voting will be factored into the decision and a winner will be announced next week.
Tati Vazquez, Gardner
The junior small forward led the Mid-Wach D league in scoring with 17.3 points per game. She helped Gardner to a 17-5 overall record, including a nine-win game streak to open the season.
Krista Bettez, Gardner
Bettez, a junior, finished the season averaging 11.2 points per game for the Wildcats and showed her leadership qualities stepping up to secure a win in Gardner's first-round playoff game.
Meaghan Doyle, Quabbin
A senior leader for the Panthers, guard Meaghan Doyle put up 12.5 points per game. Her quick and accurate shots as well as intense defense helped Quabbin win some tough games down the stretch that eventually ended in their CMADA finals victory.
Mia Ducos, Quabbin
The sophomore guard led Quabbin to a Central Mass. sectional title this season, averaging 12.5 points. Her focus as an underclassman shined especially late in the season, like hitting clutch free throws in some close games.

Amanda Iannacone, Narragansett
Junior Amanda Iannacone played a key role in the Warriors' offense this season. She averaged 10.2 points a game to lead Narragansett as well as contributed defensively.
Kylie Neseran, Monty Tech
Neseran, a junior, was a natural leader for the Bulldogs this season. Her quick thinking and leadership qualities helped Monty Tech to a 9-11 record. Neseran averaged 8.3 ppg, coming in at 11th in scoring for the Colonial league.

Sadie Bauver, Murdock
Sophomore Sadie Bauver dominated on the court for Murdock. Bauver was the Blue Devils' primary scorer throughout the season, averaging 11.3 points. On a team made up of only sophomores, she had to step up as an underclassman captain and lead in a building year.
