Court documents reveal new details after innocent bystander shot, killed outside SW Houston hookah bar earlier this month

The accused shooter has been charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to court documents.

HOUSTON — An innocent bystander was shot and killed earlier this month after a fight broke out during another woman's birthday party at a southwest Houston hookah bar, according to court documents.

This happened around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, at Vegas Hookah Bar and Grill off the Southwest Freeway near Beltway 8.

Court documents say the accused shooter, 27-year-old Shanil Pradia, was the ex-boyfriend of the woman celebrating her birthday. The woman's sister told police Pradia had shown up to the club with a new girlfriend. The sister said a fight broke out when Pradia punched her in the face.

As people were leaving the club after the fight, court documents say Pradia was caught on video in the parking lot shooting a pistol around 10 times before it ran out of ammo. He then fired eight more times from a second pistol.

During the gunfire, Pradia shot an innocent bystander in her head, killing her, police said in charging documents. Another person, the brother of the woman celebrating her birthday, was shot in the shoulder.

Pradia is charged with murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. He was due in probable cause court Thursday morning.
