Diamond Heels stay hot with win over North Carolina A&T

The Diamond Heels are playing their best baseball of the season here in late March. They entered Tuesday’s game winners of 16 of their last 18 games and fresh off a sweep of ACC foe Georgia Tech.

They continued that win streak with a 10-5 win over North Carolina A&T on Tuesday afternoon.

North Carolina fell behind 1-0 in the top of the second inning but responded right back with a two-run home run from Parks Harber. After A&T tied it in the top of the third, the Tar Heels responded again with a three-run bottom half of the inning.

Vance Honeycutt hit a triple to score a run before Alberto Osuna had a sac fly and Parks reached on an error. From there, UNC never looked back adding two in the fifth and three in the sixth to extend the lead.

A&T added one in the top of the fifth and two in the top of the seventh to finish out the scoring.

Matthew Matthijs got the win after pitching two innings, striking out two, not allowing a hit or a run. Cameron Padgett and Olin Johnson each pitched two innings while Connor Bovair, Kyle Percival, and Ben Peterson each pitched an inning.
