WILMINGTON, Ohio (WXIX) - The March 2013 death of Wilmington resident Casey Pitzer remains a mystery and the city’s law director says the city will be sending out letters to multiple law enforcement agencies about looking into the case.

32-year-old Casey was found dead near a small pond near State Route 73 and US 22 in Clinton County.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation recommended Wilmington police and encouraged the department to re-interview witnesses.

Casey’s father, Greg Pitzer, has maintained that his daughter was murdered.

“This is the most help I’ve had from the city since this happened,” Greg said.

Her body was found in a small pond near Ohio 73 and US 22 in Clinton County.

Police reports stated she was out with friends drinking.

She later got a ride with two men, who said she got out of their vehicle and ran across four lanes of traffic on Ohio 73 near the pond where her body was found, court documents show.

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office ruled her death was caused by drowning and acute ethanol intoxication.

“Hopefully we can get to the bottom of this and get it solved and the people who did this will go to prison,” Greg said. “I think she’s leading me to this. That’s what I think. She’s leading me. I went out there and prayed. I’m pretty sure she’s helping me.”

Wilmington Interim Police Chief Bob Wilson said he’s meeting with Greg on Friday to discuss the case.

clarification: Wilmington City Law Director Justin Dickman called FOX19 on Thursday to clarify a statement Mayor Pat Haley made regarding the Pitzer case. Haley told FOX19 that the FBI is investigating Pitzer's death but Dickman says he thinks the mayor was speaking about the original investigation several years ago and how the FBI was recently requested to investigate. The FBI will not confirm or deny an investigation.
