25 displaced following fire at Providence apartment building

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — 25 people were displaced by a fire at an apartment building in Providence on Saturday.

The Red Cross said it is helping 14 families, 22 adults and three children, after the fire on Cranston Street.

Crews responded to the scene just before 4 p.m. with visible smoke emitting from a third floor window.

Officials have not released any word on what may have caused the fire.
