ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — If you’re looking to head to the movies soon, why not watch one in the comfort of your car?

Two drive-in movie theaters in the Rochester area will be opening in the next few days — the Vintage Drive-In in Avon and the Rose City Drive-In in Newark.

The Vintage Drive-In will be open on Friday through Sunday at 7 p.m. screening films like “Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire,” “Kung Fu Panda 4,” and “Wonka.” The drive-in will be open until Memorial Day. The drive-in will then open seven days a week afterward.

The Rose City Drive-In on Rt. 31 West is coming back from a 40-year retirement with the classic 100 by 45-foot screen still intact! A soft opening is set for April 5 through April 7 with a screening of “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” starting at 7:30 p.m. each night. The theater will then re-open on April 8 as a place to watch the Total Solar Eclipse.

The drive-in comes back with a new concession stand, digital projector, and other amenities. A grand opening is expected in the near future.

More information on ticket sales for both drive-in theaters can be found on the Vintage Drive-In’s website and on the Rose City Drive-In’s website.
