90% of world’s wine regions threatened by climate change

(CNN) - Your glass of wine may not have as much time left as you think.

Scientists say 90% of the world’s wine-growing regions may have to close up shop by the end of the century.

They cite climate change as the source of the problem.

Growing grapes suitable for wine depends on very specific temperatures, precipitation and humidity.

A new review published in “Nature Reviews Earth and Environment” said more droughts and heat waves may make grape production impossible.

Regions that could be impacted include areas in Spain, Italy, Greece and southern California.
