Innocent Driver Injured After Santa Clarita Pursuit Ends In Crash

Three suspects are in custody after a pursuit ended in an injury crash Monday afternoon in Santa Clarita.

Around 3:20 p.m. Monday, a California Highway Patrol (CHP) officer located a stolen vehicle on the southbound 14 Freeway near Newhall Avenue in Newhall, said Officer Josh Greengard, spokesperson for the CHP Newhall Area Office.

The officer conducted a traffic stop and the suspect briefly stopped near the 5/14 Freeway interchange.

However, the suspect soon fled northbound onto the 5 Freeway where the pursuit was initiated.

The suspect exited onto Calgrove Boulevard and fled on surface streets through Newhall into the Canyon Country area.

The pursuit came to an end after crashing into a vehicle near Via Princessa and Sierra Highway.

The three suspects fled on foot and were taken into custody at gunpoint by CHP officers and Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s deputies who assisted in the chase.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
