MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) - Vermont Attorney General Charity Clark says she is running for reelection.

Clark held a press conference in Winooski on Monday saying she is here to stay.

The Democrat says she wants to continue fighting for issues like consumer protection, climate change, abortion rights and gender equality.

While her campaign ramps up, she says she hopes to be an example for other young female Vermonters.

“I have been really proud to serve as Vermont’s attorney general, to represent this wonderful state. I also am very aware that I am the first woman elected attorney general. I want to make sure that children and young people, especially girls, see themselves in me,” said Clark, D-Vt. Attorney General.

Clark does not currently have any opponents but if a challenger does step up, they will go head to head in the primary on Aug. 13 before November’s general election.
