ASHLAND, Maine (WAGM) -
A train derailed along a railroad crossing on Route 11 in Ashland near Depot Street and the Clark Siding Road around 1PM this afternoon.
According to David Milligan of Ashland PD, the train derailed due to what is believed to be a frost heave and remained upright.
The road was closed for several hours as efforts were made to move the train. Milligan says an engine was brought in from further south along the tracks.
The road was re-opened to traffic around 3:30 PM.
Ashland Police Department and workers from Northern Maine Railways responded to the scene.
No other details are available at this time.
