Andrew Zigler, 52, was shot by Sgt. Jimmy Holford III, a 16-year law enforcement veteran, the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation said in a statement Tuesday.
The incident began when Janesville police responded to a 911 call reporting an armed person in the 1200 block of North Parker Street. When Janesville officers arrived, they contacted the armed person, now identified as Zigler, who refused to leave the residence. Two other people were unable to safely leave the residence, DCI said.
