'Family Haulers: The American Station Wagon' is focus of exhibit at Studebaker Museum

SOUTH BEND — The exhibit “Family Haulers: The American Station Wagon” continues through July 28 at the Studebaker National Museum, 201 Chapin St.

A showcase of the iconic station wagon, the exhibit offers visitors an immersive exploration of the beloved vehicle that has been a staple of American family life for generations.

From its humble beginnings to its evolution into a cultural icon, “Family Haulers” features vintage models, rareprototypes and everyday haulers as it offers a comprehensive look at the role of station wagons in shaping American transportation and lifestyle.

The exhibit “Family Haulers: The American Station Wagon” opened March 1 and continues through July 28, 2024, at the Studebaker National Museum in South Bend.

Highlights include eight unique station wagon models from the early 20th century through the 1980s and images and literature showcasing the cultural significance of the station wagon in American life.

The museum will host special events throughout the duration of “Family Haulers,” including a special talk this summer as part of the “Studebaker Speaker Series” program.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays.

Admission is $11-$7; free for ages 5 and younger.
