Man, 22, dies in industrial accident at former hospital

MONTCALM COUNTY, MI – A 22-year-old man died Thursday, March 21, in an industrial accident at the former Edmore Hospital, sheriff’s deputies said.

The victim’s name was not released.

The incident was reported at 8:26 p.m. in the 1000 block of East Howard City-Edmore Road in Montcalm County’s Home Township, sheriff’s deputies said.

Police said that a Lansing company bought the property and brought in a group of workers to remove scrap metal. The victim became pinned between a small excavator and a large boiler that was being removed.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is continuing but foul play is not suspected.
