NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Former Attorney General for the United States, Matt Whitaker appeared alongside co-host Charlie Hurt to discuss Donald Trump being targeted by New York AG Letitia James on the Saturday, March 23, episode of 'Fox & Friends'.

Whitaker believed that the case against Trump was "completely outrageous" and warned that failing to overturn the indictment could lead to Americans losing faith in the justice system.

Matt Whitaker's take on Donald Trump's $454 million bond

When Hurt asked Whitaker's help to make sense of Trump's massive bond security value, he responded, "I wish I could, but the fact pattern for this case is that he took out a loan, he paid that loan back with interest, and somehow he is simply liable now for this amount."

"It is an outrageous miscarriage of justice. It is inconsistent with our fundamental constitutional rights to due process - prevention of excessive fines under the eighth amendment to the constitution."

"So this case, I think, is completely outrageous and he should continue to fight and hopefully, find a court more sympathetic than Judge Engoron was," he continued.

Matt Whitaker on Letitia James

Hurt proceeded to suggest that the NY AG may have a vendetta against the former President, citing clips that showed her vowing to prosecute him while running for office.

According to Whitaker, this is possible when "you have a rogue prosecutor like Letitia James who has a political base that is in favor of her actions, (and) a judge in Manhattan (who is) willing to go along with it".

"No one is above the law ... but nobody is below the law either, and American citizens shouldn't be targeted individually for their political beliefs which is exactly what is happening to Donald Trump in these blue jurisdictions."

He continued, "It's just lawfare at its absolute worst, and if this continues and is allowed to happen by the Appeals Court and the Supreme Court, then I think you're going to end up with a collapse of the American justice system and the American people are not going to have faith in the system."
