ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) – The Allen County Coroner revealed Tuesday the skeletal remains found off Interstate 469 in south Allen County earlier this month belong to a man who went missing in 2022.

Human remains found off I-469 identified as Cody Michael Rose, man missing since 2022

The coroner used dental records to identify the man as 31-year-old Cody Michael Rose.

According to the Allen County Sheriff’s Department, a county worker assessing the area of I-469 and Winchester Road found his remains on March 11.

Investigators brought in cadaver dogs to assist, along with a forensic anthropologist and a team from the University of Indianapolis’ Human Identification Center.

The sheriff’s department determined the remains had been there for an “extended period of time.”

While the exact timeline is unclear, Rose was last seen in April 2022, when he left his home in the middle of the night. A missing person’s report was filed a few weeks later, and Rose appeared on local and statewide lists of missing people.

Rose’s mother, other family members, and his roommate went to the Allen County Courthouse in July with signs offering a $1,000 reward for information on Rose’s whereabouts.

Rose’s mother said at the time she knew something was wrong when Mother’s Day, and then her birthday, came and went without a call from her son.

The cause and manner of Rose’s death are pending, the coroner said.
