A leading U.S. law firm is building out its environmental practice with former Justice Department and EPA attorneys.

One of Arnold & Porter’s new hires, Jeffrey Talbert, is a former attorney in DOJ’s environmental enforcement section, where he led trial teams across the country in a variety of environmental cases. He joins the firm as a partner.

“Jeff is a highly regarded trial attorney and environmental lawyer, with a deep understanding of complex environmental issues and an extensive background in handling matters related to contaminated sediment sites across the country,” said Brian Israel, chair of the firm’s environmental practice group and co-lead of its environmental, social and corporate governance working group.

Talbert, who served at DOJ during the George W. Bush administration, was active in Clean Water Act and Clean Air Act litigation, as well as matters related to national parks. As a fellow for the American College of Environmental Lawyers, Talbert also advises clients on environmental litigation, permitting, due diligence, risk management and other issues.
