'I get it': Bol Bol calls out referees for foul call in matchup with Victor Wembanyama

Phoenix Suns coach Frank Vogel said before Saturday’s game that Bol Bol would “see some minutes” on San Antonio Spurs rookie phenom Victor Wembanyama.

The fans got a little more than that in the second quarter with the audio to prove it.

Wembanayama took Bol outside, drove to the basket and got a foul call on Bol.

In reaction, Bol had choice words for the referees to suggest they were catering to Wembanyama.

"I get it," Bol said.

The Suns (42-29) and Spurs (15-55) meet for the fourth and final time this season Monday at Frost Bank Center.

Bol appeared to hurt his right shoulder near the end of Saturday’s game, but he came out of it fine as it will be monitored. The Suns aren’t scheduled to practice Sunday.

Bol and Wembanyama matched up a handful of times in the second quarter as the two have drawn comparisons primarily for being tall and having handles.

The two 7-footers had jump ball with 9:02 left in the first half Wembanyama won after the referees couldn’t determine whether the ball went out of bounds off San Antonio or Phoenix.

Wembanyama, the top overall pick in the 2023 draft, and Bol, a second-round pick in the 2019 draft, each ended Saturday’s game with 13 points.

Wembanyama had five rebounds to Bol’s four and wasn’t called for a foul in 21 minutes while Bol picked up three in 19 minutes.
