As the city of Hamilton prepares for an out-of-this-world celebration come April 8th, Municipal Brew Works has been doing its own prep to commemorate the total solar eclipse.
After all, what's better than a cold one while experiencing something so unique?
"It's a once-in-a-lifetime event, so we decided to make a beer for it," said co-owner Jim Goodman.
It's called the "Path of Totality." Goodman calls the beer a hoppy amber lager, adding in Galaxy Hop.
The beer hit the conveyor belt for canning and labeling, but if you're hoping to get your hands on a can, good luck.
"The popularity of this beer is pretty large. Even before we started to brew it. So we're going to have upwards of 220 cases. The rest will be draft, but it's pretty much all spoken for. So if you see it out there, get it," Goodman said.
Draft will be available the day of with special cups that glow in the dark.
"The glow-in-the-dark cups will actually be used as our DORA cup for the day," Goodman said.
Of course, this is more than a beer. Municipal Brew Works is one of several Hamilton businesses getting in the spirit for Eclipse Day that puts Hamilton in the path of totality for 1:42 seconds.
"We have tried since we've opened to really kind of be the backdrop of community events and bringing people together. So this is just another reason for people to come together and experience a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," he said.
