BELVIDERE, Ill. (WTVO) — Belvidere Police held an Easter food giveaway on March 27th.

100 hams and sides were given to members of the community for their dinners this Sunday. The food was paid for by the donations from last fall’s “Feed the Need.”

Officers said it is a great way for families to save money with prices on the rise.

“As we all know, food prices have increased dramatically in the last few years and this is just an extra cost savings for people in our community,” said Belvidere Police Officer Michelle Schwartz.

“It brings awareness to food insecurities and also brings a good light for the police department and community partnerships,” said Schwartz.

From October to the end of November Belvidere Police will be at Aldi and Walmart every Saturday raising money for their “Feed the Need” program.
