Taco Bell Celebrates a New Chicken Menu with Free Crispy Tacos for 2 Weeks

Taco Bell is heating up their offerings with the new Cantina Chicken menu. 

On Thursday, the fast food chain unveiled five new chicken-charged menu items that will be available at locations starting March 21. All of the new dishes feature slow-roasted chicken with Mexican spices and they come with the company's new avocado verde salsa, which is made of tomatillos, green chili peppers and avocado. 

Starting with the Cantina Chicken Crispy Taco, the new dish is made with chicken, creamy jalapeño sauce and a three-cheese blend. The outside of the tortilla is covered in a layer of grilled cheese and paired with the avocado salsa. 

Rewards members can try the crispy taco for free from March 21 to April 4. There's no purchase required but you need to have been an existing rewards member as of Feb. 9 to get the coupon.

Another exciting menu addition is the Cantina Chicken Quesadilla. Made with a flour tortilla, chicken, a layer of three-cheese blend and creamy chipotle sauce, the quesadilla is “crisped up to perfection with grilled cheese on the outside,” per a release. It’s served with guacamole, sour cream and the same new salsa.

For those who prefer a pillowy texture, Taco Bell is also dropping the Cantina Chicken Soft Taco. Stuffed with chicken, avocado ranch sauce, cheddar cheese and pico de gallo, the taco also includes a bit of crunchy inside with shredded purple cabbage and iceberg lettuce. 

As a heartier option, the Cantina Chicken Burrito contains a double portion of chicken and is filled with creamy chipotle sauce, avocado ranch sauce, cheddar cheese and pico de gallo.

To round out the fun new menu items, the Cantina Chicken Bowl consists of seasoned rice, cheddar cheese, chicken, black beans, iceberg lettuce and shredded purple cabbage. And the sauces are plentiful: The bowl includes avocado ranch sauce, sour cream, pico de gallo, guacamole and avocado verde salsa. 

If you’re a rewards member, you can get a first taste. Instead of waiting until March 21 when the items go wide, you can order the crispy taco and quesadilla starting March 14. And if you prefer the soft taco, burrito or bowl, those three will become available early to rewards members starting March 18.

Taco Bell also hinted at more chicken innovations to come, including the addition of crispy chicken nuggets that will hit menus nationwide later this year, according to a release.
