2 men now face charges for a 'random' drive-by shooting incident in Dalton that happened back in January.

The shooting happened near the intersection of Hamilton Street and Tyler Street near downtown Dalton at about 4 p.m.

Two men told police they were walking on a sidewalk together when a Ford F-150 pickup truck passed them with someone inside firing shots at them.

One of the men was hit by a ricocheted bullet. The other man wasn't hurt.

Surveillance photos helped police identify the driver of the truck as 36-year-old Joshua Lee Edwards.

A Dalton Police release says

The investigation showed that Edwards was driving his truck east on Tyler Street and apparently yelled something at the victims. The victims kept walking westbound towards Hamilton Street. The investigation shows that the F-150 then returned traveling westbound with Gordon Austin driving [40-year-old] Joshua Edwards riding in the passenger side. Edwards fired at least five shots at the victims. Investigators believe that the shooting was random, and both Edwards and Austin were unknown to the victims.

Austin was already in custody on a probation violation charge when he was charged in the shooting. Officers arrested Edwards on Tuesday during a traffic stop.

Edwards is charged with 2 counts of aggravated assault. Austin is charged with aggravated assault and a probation violation.

Also in Dalton that same Sunday, a person was shot in a road rage incident. Police arrested a suspect in that case in Florida a month later.
