Two suspects arrested in mail theft scheme in Indian River County
I’M ERIN GUY WITH A LOOK AT YOUR NEWS TO GO. A TREASURE COAST MAN IS IN THE HOSPITAL AFTER HE WAS SHOT BY A DEPUTY. THIS HAPPENED IN THE INDIAN PINES VILLAGE COMMUNITY JUST BEFORE SIX WEDNESDAY NIGHT. WE DO NOT KNOW THE CONDITION OF THE MAN OR WHAT EXACTLY LED TO THE SHOOTING. THE SAINT LUCIE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE TELLS US THE SUSPECT WAS ARMED WHEN HE WAS SHOT. OFFICIALS TELL US NO DEPUTIES WERE INJURED AND THERE IS NO DANGER TO THE PUBLIC AT THIS TIME. ON THE TREASURE COAST, CONGRESSMAN BRIAN MAST CALLING FOR A PERMANENT STOP TO THE WATER RELEASES FROM LAKE OKEECHOBEE. HE SAYS IT’S DAMAGING THE SAINT LUCIE ESTUARY. THE ARMY CORPS IS PLANNING TO PAUSE WATER RELEASES FOR TWO WEEKS STARTING THIS SATURDAY. Two suspects arrested in mail theft scheme in Indian River County
The Indian County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of two men for a mail theft scheme. According to deputies, a village resident noticed a suspicious vehicle prowling the neighborhood and slowing down near multiple mailboxes. The concerned resident notified deputies, who located the vehicle. Deputies detained the two men, who are from the Miami area and found an abundance of stolen mail in their possession. Deputies discovered more than 50 pieces of mail, including checks, bank statements and other personal documents – some from as far away as Texas and Alabama. The suspects were unable to offer a convincing explanation for possessing the mail. Both suspects were arrested and are being held in Indian River County on $180,000 bond.
